Academics

At SPPS, academics are rooted in a strong foundation of faith, knowledge, and critical thinking. We provide a well-rounded curriculum designed to challenge students while supporting their individual learning needs in a nurturing environment.

Our academic program includes a comprehensive curriculum with a strong emphasis on reading, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Reading instruction incorporates the Really Great Reading curriculum alongside other high-quality instructional resources to develop strong foundational literacy skills, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing.  In mathematics, science, and social studies, teachers utilize a variety of high-quality instructional resources to provide engaging, standards-based learning experiences. Students also benefit from enrichment in religion, physical education, music, art, library, and Spanish, helping them grow creatively, physically, and digitally alongside their core studies.

We are committed to meeting students where they are and helping every child reach their full potential. Through our Title I program, eligible students receive additional support in reading and mathematics. Teachers also provide small-group instruction, targeted interventions, and enrichment opportunities to ensure every student is appropriately challenged and supported.

Classroom instruction is enhanced through hands-on learning, collaborative activities, and the purposeful use of technology, including iPads and Chromebooks, to encourage engagement, creativity, and real-world application.

Student progress is monitored through ongoing classroom assessments and NWEA MAP Growth testing three times each year. This data allows teachers to personalize instruction, celebrate growth, and partner with families to support each child's academic success.

At SPPS, we strive to develop lifelong learners who are academically prepared, grounded in faith, and inspired to serve others with integrity, compassion, and confidence.

Student life at SPPS extends beyond the classroom. We offer a variety of clubs and enrichment opportunities that help students explore their interests, build leadership skills, and grow in community. Throughout the year, students also participate in special programs and performances, including Christmas and spring showcases, that celebrate their hard work, creativity, and growth.
